National Conference president Dr. Farooq Abdullah announced on Saturday that he will participate in the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Election Commission has set the stage for the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana, marking a significant political event following the Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking to reporters in Doda district, NC leader Faroow Abdullah said, “He (his son Omar Abdullah) does not want to fight the elections under the present setup. He has made up his mind that he will not fight the elections till the restoration of statehood (of Jammu and Kashmir). However, I am going to fight the elections as I am not dead.”

National Conference President Farooq Abdullah said on Tuesday that increasing terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir are testing the patience of the nation, and could potentially lead to a larger confrontation.

Abdullah referred to the recent terror attacks in Jammu and added that the Indian government will not engage in discussions with Pakistan until terrorism is eradicated, regardless of how many people want it.

Security forces on Sunday uncovered a well-constructed terrorist hideout within a civilian home in the Kulgam district.

He proposed that both countries should work together to resolve all outstanding issues, including terrorism and Kashmir, and added that dialogues were the only way forward to bring peace to the region.

Member of Parliament Abdullah said that the INDIA bloc needs to be strengthened to preserve the country from disaster.

National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah reaffirmed the party's commitment to retaining its electoral stronghold in Kashmir, asserting that the INDIA bloc's objective is to diminish BJP's electoral footprint rather than compromise its own constituency.

The National Conference leader also said the view that Article 370 was at the root of all problems of Jammu and Kashmir was not correct, and terrorist attacks are now being reported in areas which were earlier free of terrorism, in particular the hills of Jammu, Rajouri and Poonch.
