Abhimanyu Kohar, a farmer leader from the SKM (NP), said the impact of the farmers' protests was visible in the recent Lok Sabha polls as well, and the protests that have been happening have made people in the rural areas aware that they should vote on their issues.

In Amritsar on Thursday, around 600 tractors, sporting the national flag and flags of farmers' outfits, participated in the tractor march. The tractor march, which was led by farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher, began from Attari and culminated at Golden Gate, after covering around 30 kilometres.

"How can a State block a highway? It has a duty to regulate traffic. We are saying open it but regulate," Justice Bhuyan said after the counsel informed the bench about filing of appeal in the apex court.

SKM will submit a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, listing the farmers' demands. The agitation will include nationwide protests, particularly in assembly election-bound states like Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, and Haryana. 

The farmers have been protesting at the Shambhu border since February 13, demanding a legal guarantee for minimum support price for crops. The protest has caused difficulties for the general public and traders, who are finding it hard to conduct their business due to the closure of the border.

The rally is expected to witness the participation of over 1 lakh farmers from more than 20 states to exert pressure on the NDA government to enact an MSP (Minimum Support Price) guarantee law for farmers.

"The miscreants were backed by the Punjab and Haryana governments and the Centre. We demand that those who tried to create a ruckus at the (protest) site should be booked and arrested," said Harigarh. 

The farmers are demanding to release three of their peers who were arrested by the Haryana Police, the officials said.

The arrest comes ahead of a gathering convened by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political) and Kisan Mukti Morcha (KMM) on Sunday to pay homage to Shubhkaran Singh (21), a farmer from Punjab's Bathinda who was killed in a clash with police at the Punjab-Haryana border on February 21. 

In a significant development aimed at alleviating commuter woes, the Delhi Police has commenced the process of dismantling cemented barricades erected on the Delhi-Ghazipur border.

Amidst the ongoing farmers' protest, a significant event unfolded as the Kisan Mahapanchayat, organized by the Samyukt Kisam Morcha (SKM), took center stage at the Ramlila Maidan in Delhi.

In his address at a mega farmers' rally in Raipur, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reiterated the Modi government's unwavering support for farmers and rural development.
