Meta said that it took down over 11.6 million pieces of bad content across 13 policies for Facebook and more than 5.4 million pieces of objectionable content across 12 policies for Instagram in India in April.

While ensuring child safety online is undoubtedly crucial, it begs the question: Shouldn't parents and guardians play a more significant role in monitoring their children's online activities?

Between March 1 and March 31, Meta received 15,226 reports on Facebook in the country, with 4,323 reports concerning fake profiles. On Instagram, the company received a total of 12,084 reports through the Indian grievance mechanism, of which 5,055 were about fake profiles on the photo-sharing platform.

The outage not only affected Facebook and Instagram but also disrupted other Meta-owned platforms such as YouTube and Threads. Users encountered difficulties accessing these platforms, with some experiencing login issues on Meta Quest headsets

Users found themselves abruptly logged out of their Facebook and Instagram accounts during the downtime, with many facing the challenge of being unable to log back in. The disruptions affected both the app and the website.

Responding to a direct request from US Senate Judiciary Committee member Josh Hawley to apologize to affected parents, Zuckerberg conveyed, "I’m sorry for everything you’ve all gone through. It’s terrible. No one should have to go through the things that your families have suffered."
