The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has recently concluded its investigation into allegations of market manipulation and insider trading following the release of exit poll results on June 3, 2024. According to sources, SEBI found no evidence supporting these claims.

The performance of the BJP-led NDA was far below the forecast of exit polls, which had given the ruling alliance over 350 seats.

"We are very hopeful that our results are completely opposite to what the exit polls are showing," added the Congress parliamentary party chief. Sonia Gandhi made these comments following an event at the DMK office, where she paid tribute to DMK stalwart M. Karunanidhi on his 100th birth anniversary.

Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty soared nearly 4 percent in early trade on Monday, reaching new all-time highs after exit polls indicated a decisive victory for the BJP-led NDA in the Lok Sabha elections.

Referring to past instances in 2016, 2019, and 2021, Banerjee highlighted the inaccuracy of previous exit polls. She attributed this to what she described as the BJP's influence over certain sections of the media.

The Congress party strongly condemned the latest exit polls as "bogus" and alleged them to be a deliberate ploy to justify potential election rigging, with Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh accusing PM Modi of playing "psychological games" to demoralise INDIA bloc workers .

As the Lok Sabha elections 2024 near their conclusion, the Congress party has decided to refrain from participating in debates on exit polls, scheduled to begin on June 1. Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera made this announcement, stating that the party does not find it necessary to engage in "speculation and slugfest for TRP."

Exit polls are prohibited under Section 126A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, before the conclusion of elections across all phases.

The EC has issued a ban on the publication of exit polls between 7 am April 19 and 6.30 pm June 1. The EC guidelines, while strict about the conduct and publishing of the exit polls, do not say anything about the seat predictions happening on social media by influencers and netizens.
