Following a humiliating electoral debacle in the recently held Assembly and Lok Sabha polls in Andhra Pradesh, the former chief minister claimed that almost every advanced democracy uses paper ballots.

Former Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar responded to Elon Musk's criticism of electronic voting machines (EVMs) on Sunday, stating that he strongly disagrees with Musk's remarks. 

On the eve of the counting of the Lok Sabha elections, they urged the CEO to take measures to prevent any possible rigging during the process.

EVMs were damaged on May 13 in seven polling stations in Macherla constituency, including in polling station number 202 where local MLA P Ramakrishna Reddy allegedly damaged an EVM.

The Baramati Lok Sabha constituency witnessed a peculiar incident as the CCTV in an EVM strongroom allegedly went blank for approximately 45 minutes, sparking an outcry from the opposition. NCP (SP) Working President Supriya Sule, a contender for the Baramati seat against her sister-in-law, Sunetra A. Pawar, wife of NCP chief Ajit Pawar, expressed concern over the incident, calling it foul play.

147 CUs, 210 VVPATs and 147 BUs were replaced during the mock poll after they malfunctioned, the official said.

After EVMs were damaged on April 26 in Hanur booth under Chamarajanagar LS constituency, repolling took place peacefully today.

The development will take place in one booth of Karnataka on Chief Electoral Officer’s letter to EC.

The petitions argued in favour of going back to the ballot box system, as several European countries went back to the traditional system of voting.

This operation, conducted on Monday, aimed at facilitating the forthcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections scheduled for April 19 in the northeastern state.

A bench headed by Justices Sanjiv Khanna said the plea will be listed next Tuesday or Wednesday after advocate Prashant Bhushan, appearing for the NGO, said the matter should be heard urgently.

"You can be sworn enemies, but let there be scope for not being ashamed when you become friends," said Kumar, adding that these days, there are many cases of foes turning friends again.
