Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently emphasised the need for a "ruthless" approach towards the drug supply chain in India. During the 7th Apex Level Meeting of the Narco-Coordination Center (NCORD) in New Delhi, Shah directed central and state agencies to ensure no drugs enter the country and to prevent India’s borders from being used for drug trafficking.

Una District was the first in the country to launch the initiative, a collaborative effort between the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights and the Narcotics Control Bureau, in February 2021. The program aims to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs and substance abuse in educational institutions.

The government has launched a new portal to combat drug abuse among children. This initiative is aimed at creating a robust monitoring system to prevent the sale of contraband around schools and to raise awareness among students and teachers.
