The admission comes at a time when the Secret Service is under increased scrutiny, especially given the high stakes involved in protecting former and current political leaders. 

Trump harshly criticised FBI Director Christopher Wray for his earlier uncertainty. Wray had told Congress that there was "some question about whether it was a bullet or shrapnel that hit his ear."

The Iranian government has firmly denied recent allegations suggesting a plot to assassinate former President Donald Trump. The claims emerged from a media report stating that U.S. authorities had received intelligence indicating Iran’s intentions to target Trump. This development reportedly prompted the Secret Service to enhance security measures around the former president.

Biden has urged for a prohibition on the semi-automatic rifle model that was used in the attempted assassination of his political opponent, Donald Trump, during the election campaign. 

“The doctor at the hospital said he never saw anything like this, he called it a miracle, by luck or by God, many people are saying it’s by God I’m still here.” Trump added while addressing the photos of him raising his fist and saying “Fight!” as he had blood on his face.

In reality, the shooting, while horrible, does not come as a total surprise in the context of American history or even in the current presidential campaign.
