Federation of Resident Doctors’ Associations (FORDA) and Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) announced that they would continue their strike until the Health Ministry takes concrete action on the issue of Clinical Practice Allowance (CPA).

"Police have arrested the accused following which the hospital staff resumed their duties," Malik said.

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) spearheaded the protest, calling for a 24-hour cessation of non-emergency medical services starting from 6 am on August 17.

Doctors are protesting in demand for hiked stipend and reduction of high fees for postgraduate and super-speciality courses in the state.

Over the past three days, junior doctors had been attending to emergency duties, but as of Monday morning, they have ceased even those responsibilities, sources said.
