The Supreme Court strongly criticised the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for cutting down trees in the Ridge forest area of the national capital.

The primary meteorological station in Delhi, Safdarjung, has documented temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius or higher each day since May 13 for 39 consecutive days.

On Monday night, the minimum temperature was recorded at slightly over 33 degrees Celsius. Similar temperatures are expected for the next few nights, with relief likely from Thursday onwards.

Seven out of eight female street vendors reported having high blood pressure. Women in the middle age group expressed concerns about menstrual cycle delays due to the extreme heat.

The average temperature for June in Delhi is 39° Celsius, but the national capital has already recorded maximum days with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees.

The maximum temperature in Delhi NCR is monitored through five surface observatories and automatic weather stations. Observations of maximum temperature on May 29 were between 45.2 to 49.1 degrees Celsius except the AWS installed at Mungeshpur, which reported a maximum temperature of 52.9 degrees Celsius.

Friday's weather in the capital is expected to be partly cloudy, with the possibility of dust storms or thunderstorms, accompanied by light rain, which should bring much-needed respite from the intense heat.

Today, Delhi experienced scorching heat, with the weather office recording the highest-ever temperature in India at a staggering 52.3 degrees Celsius.

During the next five days, no relief is predicted in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and northwest Madhya Pradesh.
