The AAP is buoyed by the fact that it has governments in two neighbouring states of Haryana. In Punjab, it has an overwhelming presence in the Vidhan Sabha and has been in power since 2022. In Delhi, it has been in power for over ten years now and that too with a sweeping majority.

Kejriwal, who is in jail till July 12 in the CBI case related to the excise policy, appeared before the court of Special Judge Kaveri Baweja through video conference.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been granted bail in the Delhi Excise policy scam case by a Delhi court.

Sources said, the police will not visit Kejriwal’s home on Thursday to collect statements from his parents and wife. “This is part of a procedural investigation and can be conducted at a later stage,” they said.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigating a Delhi liquor scam worth over Rs 100 Crore made a partial disclosure of the alleged association of Kejriwal with hawala operator.

Arvind Kejriwal, the convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party and Chief Minister of Delhi, held his first roadshow in the South Delhi constituency for the Lok Sabha election campaign today. 

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, his wife Sunita, and Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann offered prayers at the Hanuman temple in central Delhi's Connaught Place on Saturday.  

Delhi will go to polls in the sixth phase of the seven-phase election on May 25.

The Centre's assertion in the Supreme Court that Kejriwal should refrain from official duties, even if granted interim bail for the Lok Sabha poll campaign, points the complexity of the situation.

“ This is an extraordinary situation. It is not like he is a habitual offender. Elections happen once in five years. It’s not harvesting a crop that will happen every four to six months. We need to consider on priority whether he should be released in the interim”, the bench said.

Senior jail officials have already clarified that nobody can run a government from inside the jail. Inside the jail, anyone who is imprisoned is a prisoner with the same rights and restrictions mandated for others. Kejriwal obviously cannot claim any special privileges or relaxations. 

With the AAP supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in jail, along with his trusted deputy, Manish Sisodia, the scene and the focus have shifted to Chandigarh on his Punjab counterpart.
