An official from the Civil Aviation Ministry said structural engineers were being engaged from IIT Delhi to do an independent assessment of the roof collapse incident at T1 and they are expected to complete the assessment in one month.

Following a deadly roof collapse at Terminal 1 (T1) of Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu has initiated a series of measures to ensure passenger safety and operational continuity. The incident, which occurred last Friday due to heavy rainfall, resulted in the death of a cab driver and injuries to several others.

The collapse, which occurred around 5 am on Friday, led to the immediate closure and evacuation of Terminal 1, with all flight operations being redirected to Terminals 2 and 3.

Six people were injured after a portion of the roof of the Delhi airport's Terminal-1 fell on cars, including taxis, amid heavy rains early Friday, Delhi Fire Services (DFS) officials said.
