The relentless downpour over the past few days has triggered floods in the Imphal valley, resulting in three fatalities and affecting thousands.

The flooding has also impacted around 401 hectares of crops, further aggravating the crisis.

Concurrently, ongoing rescue operations persist in heavily affected areas of Imphal East and Imphal West districts.

This vulnerability to cyclones is nothing new for the Bay of Bengal, which holds the dubious distinction of being one of the most cyclone-prone regions globally.
