The week-long Bengaluru-Mysuru ‘padayatre’ has sought to highlight the alleged fraudulent allotment of sites to land losers by Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), including to Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvathi.

In a significant policy shift, the Karnataka government is considering a proposal to extend the working hours for employees in the IT, IT-enabled Services (ITeS), and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sectors. The amendment to the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act of 1961 aims to increase the maximum working hours, a move that has already sparked considerable resistance from trade unions.

The Supreme Court has dismissed Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar's plea to quash the Central Bureau of Investigation's (CBI) case against him, which alleges disproportionate assets under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The court's decision upholds an earlier order by the Karnataka High Court, which also rejected Shivakumar’s plea.

The Karnataka Government announced on Sunday its decision to release only 8,000 cusecs of water from the Cauvery River to Tamil Nadu, rather than the previously stipulated one thousand million cubic metres of water. According to Siddaramaiah, the VAT on petrol is 25 per cent plus Rs 5.12 additional tax, and on diesel in Maharashtra it is 21 per cent. He, further, states, Karnataka’s revised rates are still more affordable.

An FIR has been lodged against prominent BJP leaders JP Nadda, Amit Malviya, and BY Vijayendra over a controversial social media post, alleging intimidation of SC and ST community members regarding their voting preferences.

“Who gives a passport and visa for travelling abroad? It’s the Centre. Can he go without the Centre’s knowledge? It was former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda who planned and sent him abroad,” the Chief Minister stated.
