The federal agency filed the enforcement case information report (ECIR), the ED equivalent of a police FIR, against the two, taking cognisance of a Central Bureau of Investigation complaint, the sources said.

Teams of the central probe agency reached Moitra’s residence in Kolkata and other cities early on Saturday, informed about the search proceedings and started the operation, they said.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has recently registered an FIR against former Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra in connection with a cash-for-query case.

The Delhi High Court dealt a significant blow to expelled Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra's legal battle on Monday by dismissing her plea seeking to curb BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai from making defamatory remarks against her regarding the cash-for-query scam case. 

The Supreme Court did not outright dismiss Moitra's challenge against her parliamentary expulsion, it stated that it would initially ascertain whether it has the jurisdiction to address the matter.

The Delhi High Court Wednesday reserved its order on an interim plea by Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mahua Moitra, who was recently expelled from the Lok Sabha, seeking to restrain BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai from posting or circulating any alleged fake and defamatory content against her.
