BSP chief Mayawati has announced her nephew Akash Anand as the national coordinator and her successor. This decision was confirmed by party leader Lal Ji Medhankar, who stated, "BSP chief Mayawati has announced Akash Anand as her successor. Akash Anand will take charge as the national coordinator."

BSP chief Mayawati convened a crucial meeting to analyse the party's poor performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. This meeting, held in Lucknow, was attended by district-level officials, senior party leaders, and workers from across the state.

Mayawati, the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and former Chief Minister, has accused the Samajwadi Party (SP) of putting an end to reservation in promotions for Dalit and Adivasi employees.

Taking to X, she said her brother and Akash’s father Anand Kumar will continue to fulfil his responsibilities as before.

BSP National Coordinator Akash Anand's scheduled rallies in Uttar Pradesh have been postponed without explanation, following the registration of an FIR in a hate speech case in Sitapur on April 29.

The case was registered against Anand, the BSP's national coordinator, party candidates Mahendra Yadav, Shyam Awasthi and Akshay Kalra and rally organiser Vikas Rajvanshi on Sunday.

The action followed the district administration's initiative after Anand's speech during the rally earlier in the day, where he made contentious remarks.
