The Supreme Court has closed the contempt case against Swami Ramdev and Acharya Balakrishna, the Managing Director of Patanjali Ayurved, regarding misleading advertisements.

The Supreme Court of India has directed Patanjali Ayurved to submit an affidavit confirming whether its request to remove misleading advertisements from social media platforms has been fulfilled.

In a recent development, the Supreme Court has chastised the Uttarakhand State Licensing Authority for its inaction regarding misleading advertisements by Patanjali Ayurved Limited.

The firm did not provide the information sought from it regarding the products and the explanation offered by it in its defence was not satisfactory, the Uttarakhand Drug licensing authority said in its order.

In a recent development, the Supreme Court has taken significant steps to address the issue of misleading advertisements, particularly focusing on protecting the interests of consumers.

"You can't degrade allopathy. You do your work. You are doing very good work," Justice Amanullah observed.

Ramdev and Balakrishna submitted an unconditional apology before the Supreme Court on April 9, acknowledging the gravity of their actions. However, the Supreme Court was left unimpressed.

"We will rip you apart," a bench of Justices Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah told the counsel representing the authority in an unusually stern reprimand. 

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev and Patanjali Ayurved's Managing Director Acharya Balkrishna have submitted an affidavit in the Supreme Court, extending an unconditional apology for the misleading advertisements promoted by Patanjali Ayurveda.

Ramdev and Balkrishna have been given the final call to file their affidavits in one week.
