The AIM urged the government of India to compensate all the victims of COVID-19 vaccines, including their family members, through a mechanism that also involves vaccine manufacturers.

Days after Covishield maker AstraZeneca admitted in a UK Court that its vaccine may cause rare serious side effects, the pharma company has initiated a global withdrawal of its COVID-19 vaccine.

The parents of a young woman who died allegedly after being given Covishield are planning to sue AstraZeneca, the world's largest vaccine maker. 

A social media user posted a copy of the CoWIN certificate on X, without the PM's photograph and just the message: 'Together, India will defeat COVID-19.'

They stress that despite this rare risk, ample evidence demonstrates that vaccination has saved lives, with benefits far outweighing potential risks. India’s top epidemiologist, former ICMR scientist Dr Raman Gangakhedkar, said those who got this vaccine have “no risk at all”.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off India’s mass Covid-19 vaccination drive with two vaccines - Serum Institute of India’s (SII) Covishield and Bharat Biotech’s homegrown vaccine Covaxin - which were approved by the country's drugs regulator earlier in January 2021.
