The outcome of the by-polls narrates a similar ordeal as that of the Lok Sabha Polls 2024.

As votes were tabulated on Saturday for the by-elections held earlier this week, trends on the EC website showed that the Indian bloc parties had won four assembly seats and were leading on six.

Congress leaders, including former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Yashpal Arya, and Congress MP Imran Masood, condemned the violence.

The state, which faced critical times last year due to the worst natural calamity and the Congress government not getting much financial support from the BJP-led central government to tackle the crisis on the ground, got another jolt when the 12-month-old Congress government was caught on the wrong foot in the Rajya Sabha election on February 27 this year.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former party chief Rahul Gandhi will start the strategy meetings beginning June 24.
