The UN Human Rights Office has expressed concern over the use of anti-terror laws in India to stifle dissent, specifically urging authorities to drop legal cases against author Arundhati Roy over her remarks on Kashmir.

Roy, who faces potential prosecution for comments made on Kashmir 14 years ago, expressed her delight at receiving the prize amid what she described as an “incomprehensible turn” in global affairs.

The accusations are related to speeches given at a conference called "Azadi - The Only Way" that took place on October 21, 2010, at LTG Auditorium, Copernicus Marg, New Delhi.
