“The dedication and hard work with which the medical staff performed its duty was commendable throughout the Yatra,” said an official statement of The Directorate of Health Services Kashmir.

Jammu and Kashmir was on high alert for the fifth anniversary of Article 370 Abrogation, with police announcing that the yatra would be suspended on August 5 due to security concerns.

The yatra continues to attract a significant number of devotees, marking a record-breaking year for the pilgrimage.

"On Saturday, 7,541 pilgrims undertook the yatra and had darshan of Baba Bholenath on the 29th day of the annual pilgrimage," officials said. This brings the total count of visitors to the 3,880-metre-high cave shrine to 451,881.

Early Sunday morning, a new group of 3,113 pilgrims, including 707 women, departed from a base camp in Jammu to participate in the annual Amarnath pilgrimage in the south Kashmir Himalayas, officials reported.

The 22nd batch of pilgrims, comprising 3,259 men, 1,482 women, and eight children, departed from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in a convoy of 150 vehicles. The convoy, escorted by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), set off at 3:05 am.

An official overseeing yatra arrangements said 14,974 pilgrims visited the shrine on Sunday alone for a ‘darshan’ of the naturally formed ice Shivlingam, bringing the total number of visitors this year to 309,977.

So far, over 280,000 pilgrims have visited the shrine this year, and the administration expects the number to surpass all previous records.

For the past week, between 4,600 and 6,500 pilgrims have been leaving Jammu daily for the twin base camps of Baltal and Pahalgam.

Officials reported that a total of 2, 31,016 pilgrims visited the holy cave in the past 11 days.

Officials stated that 30,586 Yatris paid obeisance at the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir on Wednesday, bringing the total number of devotees performing ‘darshan’ of the naturally formed ice lingam to 1,05,282.

Officials overseeing yatra arrangements noted that on Monday alone, over 23,000 devotees paid obeisance at the 3,880-metre high cave shrine, with more than 2,000 on-the-spot registrations completed that day.
