Rahman believes that talent should not be confined to a specific region, and young Indian artists like Cannes prize winner Payal Kapadia, who are connected with the changing times, play a vital role in taking Indian stories to a global audience.

Amitabh Bachchan will receive the 'Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Puraskar' on April 24, and A.R. Rahman will be honoured with the 'Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Award' the following week, presented by the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Smruti Pratisthan and nurtured by the Mangeshkar family in Pune.
