In the most severe floods in recent years at Assam's famous Kaziranga National Park, a total of 159 wild animals have lost their lives so far due to drowning or while receiving treatment.

Among the deceased creatures are six rhinoceroses, 100 hog deer, two sambar, and an otter. Drowning was cited as the primary cause of death, while two animals perished in collisions with vehicles while migrating to higher ground.
