“The dedication and hard work with which the medical staff performed its duty was commendable throughout the Yatra,” said an official statement of The Directorate of Health Services Kashmir.

The holy mace of Lord Shiva, known as the "Chhari Mubarak," reached the Amarnath Cave Shrine in the South Kashmir Himalayas early this morning, marking the formal end of the 52-day-long yatra.

While pilgrims stranded at the Srinagar camp hoped for the resumption of the yatra on both the Baltal and Pahalgam tracks, authorities have deemed travel on the designated routes unsafe.

"Due to the heavy rains, urgent repair and maintenance work is required to be undertaken on the Baltal axis of the Amarnath Yatra. In the interest of the safety of the yatris, no yatra will be allowed tomorrow from the Baltal route also," he said.

Jammu and Kashmir was on high alert for the fifth anniversary of Article 370 Abrogation, with police announcing that the yatra would be suspended on August 5 due to security concerns.

“The first convoy of 11 vehicles, carrying 204 pilgrims, headed to the Baltal base camp in North Kashmir, while the second convoy of 39 vehicles, with 908 pilgrims, went to the Nunwan (Pahalgam) base camp in South Kashmir,” officials have said.

The yatra continues to attract a significant number of devotees, marking a record-breaking year for the pilgrimage.

Of the 7,556 pilgrims who paid obeisance today, 4,364 were male, 1,791 female, 106 children, 148 sadhus, and 1,147 security personnel and service providers.

"On Saturday, 7,541 pilgrims undertook the yatra and had darshan of Baba Bholenath on the 29th day of the annual pilgrimage," officials said. This brings the total count of visitors to the 3,880-metre-high cave shrine to 451,881.

On Tuesday the number of Yatris who paid obeisance to Lord Shiva at the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir crossed the four lakh mark with another batch of Yatris set to embark on the holy journey, officials said.

Early Sunday morning, a new group of 3,113 pilgrims, including 707 women, departed from a base camp in Jammu to participate in the annual Amarnath pilgrimage in the south Kashmir Himalayas, officials reported.

The 22nd batch of pilgrims, comprising 3,259 men, 1,482 women, and eight children, departed from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in a convoy of 150 vehicles. The convoy, escorted by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), set off at 3:05 am.
