Adani Energy witnessed a drastic 17% drop after US-based short-seller Hindenburg Research made allegations against SEBI chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch and her husband.

"If SEBI really wanted to find the offshore fund holders, perhaps the SEBI chairperson could have started by looking in the mirror," it said. "We find it unsurprising that SEBI was reluctant to follow a trail that may have led to its own chairperson." , alleged Hindenburg.

The Dharavi slum redevelopment project does not transfer land to the Adani group but to Maharashtra government departments. The bench, comprising of DY Chandrachud, justices JP Parala, Manoj MRA, pronounced the judgement after the conclusion of arguments in the case reserved on Nov 24, 2023.

The top court, while reserving the verdict, had said it had no reason to "discredit" SEBI, the stock market regulator, which probed the allegations against the Adani group. The court said there was no material before it to doubt what the market regulator had done.
