Maharashtra reported the lowest participation at 48.88%, while West Bengal saw the highest at 73%. 

The ECI plans to convene meetings with Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) of the concerned states to review arrangements at polling stations, including provisions for shading, drinking water, and fans, aimed at alleviating the discomfort caused by high temperatures.

Amol Kirtikar , who will contest from Mumbai North West, a seat previously held by his father Gajanan Kirtikar, had Enforcement Directorate officials knocking on his door shortly after his candidature was announced.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah kickstarted his electoral campaign for the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat in Gujarat on Friday, invoking the spirit of nationalism and urging BJP workers to mobilize voters for the forthcoming elections.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has stepped up efforts to ensure peaceful elections in West Bengal, a state notorious for its history of election-related violence.

Azad emphasised the necessity for comprehensive preparations, stating, "We must be ready to triumph in every constituency, as our party is the sole trustworthy choice for the people. Others have misled and failed to serve their interests."

"INDI alliance is for the general elections and not for assembly polls of West Bengal or Maharashtra or any other state," he said, adding that in Maharashtra, Congress, NCP, and Shiv Sena will collaborate for the assembly polls, there won't be any alliance among INDIA partners for the elections in other states. 

Over 1.73 crore of those eligible to vote are in the age group of 18 to 19 years, according to Election Commission data.
