UP to hit 'one district, one medical college' goal soon: CM

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that the state will soon achieve its goal of establishing one medical college in every district.

 

Addressing a gathering at the BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur on Saturday, Adityanath highlighted the government's commitment to enhancing healthcare services across medical colleges. He called for a focus on quality research, innovation, and technical upgrades for medical staff to improve the healthcare system.

 

During the visit, Adityanath distributed 483 laptops to MBBS students and paramedical staff under the Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme. He arrived in Gorakhpur for a two-day visit earlier that day.

 

The Chief Minister revealed plans to establish two new medical colleges in Ballia and Balrampur, with additional colleges in Shamli and Sambhal set to commence their academic sessions this year. Uttar Pradesh is expected to offer 10,500 MBBS seats this year.

 

Adityanath also inspected medical and paediatrics wards at the BRD Medical College, taking feedback from patients and their families. He urged MBBS students and paramedical staff to exercise patience when dealing with patients and their attendants.

 

Appreciating the efforts of the medical community, Adityanath encouraged continued technical development and outreach. He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving a super speciality hospital for treating Japanese Encephalitis and a regional unit of the Indian Council of Medical Research.
