A seemingly ordinary sunflower field in Nagaland has become an unexpected internet star, with dazzling photos on Instagram drawing crowds to the rural village of Lhokheto.

The vibrant spectacle began in late January when the sunflowers burst into bloom, captivating a local resident who shared pictures on social media.

The eye-catching posts quickly went viral, transforming the field into a must-visit destination.

"We've seen a steady stream of visitors ever since the first photos appeared online," remarked a cultivator working the land. "It's become quite overwhelming, particularly on weekends when we can see well over a hundred people at the site."

While the surge in visitors has brought a touch of excitement to the quiet village, it hasn't been without its drawbacks. The cultivators have expressed disappointment at the littering and the occasional pilfering of sunflowers.

"We're delighted that people appreciate the flowers," they emphasised, "but it's important to remember that this is private property. We kindly request that visitors respect the land and refrain from damaging the crop."

The harvested sunflowers are destined for a practical purpose – processing into oil for sale.

The unexpected social media fame, however, has added a delightful twist to the agricultural routine.
