The Rajasthan government disclosed on Sunday its contemplation of implementing a uniform dress code for students across all government and private schools, as part of a comprehensive strategy to enhance the state's education system.
Speaking at a conference in Jodhpur, State Education Minister Madan Dilawar hinted at taking this big step to improving the education system in the state and said that parents are forced to buy uniforms, shoes, ties, etc. from a particular shop in private schools due to which arbitrary prices of school uniform increase.
The proposed initiative intends to standardize school uniforms across all educational institutions, government or private, thereby eliminating the socio-economic gap between students. Dilawar highlighted that this measure would grant parents the flexibility to buy uniforms from any vendor of their choice.
In addition to uniformity in dress code, the Minister outlined plans for reforms in the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course. He expressed concerns over the employment prospects of B.Ed graduates despite substantial investments in education.
Dilawar advocated for the introduction of an examination process aligned with the availability of vacant teaching positions across various categories.
Furthermore, he advocated for transparent selection procedures based on merit, followed by immediate issuance of appointment letters to eligible candidates upon B.Ed completion.
The Education Minister disclosed that government officials have been tasked with reviewing these proposals, signaling the government's commitment to enhancing the education sector in Rajasthan.
