West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee walked a spirited 2 km in Dumdum on Thursday, rallying support for Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Saugata Roy in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The vibrant roadshow commenced at 3.30 pm from Belgharia Rathtala Crossing, winding through Kamarhati and Baranagar along BT Road, and concluded at Sinthir More.

Banerjee, accompanied by Roy and state minister Sujit Bose, waved to the throngs of supporters who joined the procession, brandishing party flags and tricolour balloons adorned with the TMC symbol.

Amidst the lively atmosphere, TMC’s election anthem, "anagoner gorjon, Bangla birodhider bisarjan," blared from loudspeakers, while enthusiastic participants chanted slogans praising the party and denouncing the BJP.

The Dumdum Lok Sabha seat, encompassing the northern outskirts of Kolkata, will witness its electoral battle in the final phase on June 1.

Banerjee’s roadshow underscores the TMC’s vigorous campaign efforts as they seek to retain their stronghold in the region.
