Heavy rain hits Rajasthan, Hindoli sees 220mm

Heavy rain has battered parts of Rajasthan, including Hindoli in Bundi district, where rainfall surpassed 200 mm. Jaipur, Dausa, Baran, Nagaur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Pali, and Sawai Madhopur districts also experienced heavy showers. In the last 24 hours, Ajmer and Bundi districts recorded extremely heavy rainfall.

 

The highest recorded rainfall in eastern Rajasthan was in Hindoli, Bundi district, with 220 mm. In western Rajasthan, Bikaner's Kolayat saw 172 mm of rain from yesterday until 8:30 am today. Other areas experienced light to moderate rainfall, according to the Meteorological Department.

 

Light to moderate showers also affected Alwar, Sikar, Karauli, Kota, Bhilwara, Tonk, Jaisalmer, and Barmer districts.

 

An official stated that a circulation system over north-eastern Rajasthan is moving westwards, likely bringing heavy or very heavy rain to parts of Jodhpur, Ajmer, and Bikaner divisions in the next 24 hours. Heavy rain is expected to continue from 17 August, with clearer skies anticipated from 17 to 22 August. Another period of heavy rain is expected in the last week of August.

 

In a related incident, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) rescued 53 people from Padajhar waterfall in Chittorgarh's Rawatbhata on Thursday. Police reported that the individuals had ventured into the water stream but became stranded due to submerged paths. An SDRF vehicle also became stuck in the mud, but all 53 were safely rescued by Friday morning.
