In a pre-dawn operation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajasthan's Sriganganagar district, Border Security Force (BSF) personnel thwarted a suspected infiltration attempt on Friday.

A man, believed to be of Pakistani origin, was shot dead after disregarding warnings issued by the vigilant jawans.

According to Keshri Singhpur Station House Officer (SHO) Jitendra Kumar, the incident unfolded near the BSF's Sundarpura post on Thursday night. BSF troops on patrol spotted a lone individual approaching from the Pakistani side.

Following established protocol, the BSF personnel issued a strong warning and instructed the man to return. However, he reportedly disregarded these warnings and continued his advance.

Faced with a potentially perilous situation, the BSF jawans were compelled to open fire.

The man sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased's body has been taken into police custody and awaits identification.

Authorities plan to initiate a flag meeting with their Pakistani counterparts to facilitate the repatriation of the remains.

In the event of a refusal from the Pakistani Rangers, the body will be cremated with due respect within Indian territory, as outlined by SHO Kumar.
