In a historic first, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed on Thursday that the Combined Civil Service Examination (Main) will feature questions in Assamese, alongside English.

The examination, conducted by the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC), is set to begin on Friday.

Sarma, in a post on X, praised the APSC for this significant development.

“For the first time, all questions in the Combined Civil Service Examination will be available in Assamese, in addition to English, as per the Government of Assam’s instructions,” he stated.

The move aims to enhance accessibility for Assamese-speaking candidates.

This year’s examination, which comprises six papers, will take place on July 26, 27, and 28.

The decision reflects the Assam government’s commitment to inclusivity in the examination process.

The APSC’s initiative is expected to support candidates who are more comfortable in Assamese, thereby broadening their opportunity to succeed.
