27 Jharkhand workers stuck in Cameroon finally return home

Twenty Seven migrant workers who were stranded in Cameroon, Africa finally returned home on Monday. The workers were sent to their homes in different districts by the State government after their return.  

 

The migrant workers who were stranded in Cameroon were from various blocks of Bokaro and Hazaribagh districts, including four from Giridih district.

 

About a week ago the workers had released a video and had appealed to the government for help. In the video, they expressed their hardships and said that they were not being paid by the company they were employed for the last 4 months.

 

They said that they neither had money for food nor food grains to sustain there. They were not even able to talk to their family members because they did not have money to recharge their mobile phones.

 

The workers shared the video on social media and showed their plight and appealed to the government to return to their homeland. They had also demanded payment of their outstanding salary.

 

The Jharkhand government had taken cognisance of the matter and the Labour Minister had asked the Migrant Cell to take immediate cognizance of the matter and take action.
