India eyes hosting 2030 Youth Olympics and 2036 Summer Olympics, declares Anurag Thakur

India aims to take center stage in the global sporting arena, with Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anurag Thakur asserting the country's readiness to host the Youth Olympics in 2030 and the Summer Olympics in 2036.

 

Speaking at the CNN-News18's Rising Bharat Summit, Thakur emphasized India's preparedness to host these prestigious events once the bidding process commences.

 

Thakur underlined India's economic prowess as the world's fifth-largest economy, coupled with its significant youth population, positioning the nation as an ideal market for sports and its expansion.

 

Highlighting India's potential as a sports destination, the minister recalled the enthusiastic turnout of nearly 4,000 cricket enthusiasts from Britain who traveled to Himachal Pradesh to witness the fifth Test match between India and England in Dharamsala. He commended the picturesque stadium in the region.

 

With the 2024 Olympics slated for Paris, followed by Los Angeles in 2028 and Brisbane in 2032, India eyes its opportunity to showcase its capabilities on the global stage by offering to host the subsequent editions in 2030 and 2036.
