Fostering US-India health partnership: USAID Global Health Assistant Administrator Dr Atul Gawande will visit India

Assistant Administrator for Global Health, at the Agency for International Development (USAID), Dr Atul Gawande will be visiting India from March 19 to 20. The primary purpose of his meeting is to foster US-India health partnership.

 

Gawande will be visiting New Delhi, Dewas, Indore, Madhya Pradesh to engage with government officials, healthcare professionals, academics, civil society, and business leaders to underscore the United States’ commitment to forge global solutions to health challenges while partnering with India.

 

The US and India are coming together to advance and achieve shared global health and development priorities. India and the US are considered to be the world’s two largest economies and hubs for technology and innovation. Both the countries will jointly pilot healthcare models and high-impact innovations to address complex health challenges that can be scaled and replicated worldwide.

 

The venture is based on a collaboration that extends over a period of the past 70 years. India and the US have been transforming and strengthening their partnership to make the world safe and prosperous. 

 

Gawande’s visit will reinforce the United States’ commitment to collaborating with India to address some of the world’s pressing challenges. This includes harnessing emerging technologies, advancing global health goals, bolstering primary health systems, strengthening global health security and working directly with communities to formulate the most equitable and effective responses.
