Accused in Sarabjit Singh murder, LeT associate Amir Tamba shot dead in Lahore

Amir Sarfaraz Tamba, an accused in the murder of Indian death row prisoner in Pakistan Sarabjit Singh and a close associate of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror outfit founder Hafiz Sayeed, was killed by unidentified gunmen in Lahore on Sunday, official sources said.

 

The incident occurred in the Islampura area of Lahore, where Tamba was attacked by assailants riding motorcycles. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, Tamba ultimately succumbed to his injuries, the sources confirmed.

 

Sarabjit Singh, aged 49, passed away due to cardiac arrest at Jinnah Hospital Lahore on May 2, 2013, after being in a comatose state for nearly a week following a vicious assault by fellow inmates, among them Tamba, within the confines of the high-security Kot Lakhpat jail.

 

Tamba, whose father is identified as Sarfaraz Javed, was born in Lahore in 1979 and maintained close ties with the LeT founder.

 

Singh was targeted by a group of Pakistani prisoners wielding bricks and iron rods. He had been accused of involvement in multiple bombings in Punjab province, Pakistan, in 1990 and was subsequently sentenced to death.
