Polling underway: Final Phase of LS elections in Assam

Voting has commenced for four constituencies in Assam, marking the decisive moment for 47 candidates in the Lok Sabha elections' third and final phase.

 

Starting at 7 am and extending until 5 pm, polling stations in Guwahati, Barpeta, Dhubri, and Kokrajhar are witnessing the democratic process.

 

Key contenders include Badruddin Ajmal of the AIUDF, vying for his fourth consecutive term from Dhubri, alongside Congress MLA Rakibul Hussain and veteran Asom Gana Parishad legislator Phanibhushan Choudhury.

 

The Guwahati seat sees a dynamic contest between Bijuli Kalita Medhi of the BJP and Mira Borthakur Goswami of the Congress.

 

A total of 82.11 lakh voters, including 40.84 lakh women and 112 third-gender individuals, are eligible to cast their ballots across 9,516 polling stations.

 

Heightened security measures have been implemented for this crucial phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Assam.
