Lok Sabha Election: Nomination filing process begins for second phase in 12 states

Scheduled for April 26, the last date for submitting nomination papers for this phase is April 4.

The process of filing nominations for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections covering 88 parliamentary seats across 12 states commenced on Thursday.

 

The Election Commission, acting on behalf of the president, issued the notification for the upcoming phase early on Thursday.

 

Scheduled for April 26, the last date for submitting nomination papers for this phase is April 4.

 

Subsequently, on April 5, scrutiny of the nomination papers will be conducted across all states and Union Territories, except Jammu and Kashmir. 

 

In the latter, the scrutiny process is slated for April 6.

 

Notably, polling in a segment of the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha constituency is also slated for this phase.

 

Although the notification for elections in the Outer Manipur constituency was initially included in the gazette notification issued for the first phase on March 20.

 

While fifteen assembly segments in the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha constituency are set for polling in the first phase on April 19, thirteen assembly segments will participate in the electoral process on April 26.

 

The states and Union Territories participating in the second phase include Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. Additionally, one part of the Outer Manipur seat will also be involved in this phase.
