Government eases export restrictions: Duty lifted on Kalanamak rice

On Tuesday, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) permitted exports of up to 1,000 tonnes of Kalanamak rice through specified customs stations.

The government has removed duty on the Kalanamak variety of rice for exports of up to 1,000 tonnes through six specified customs stations.

The government has lifted the duty on Kalanamak rice for exports totaling up to 1,000 tonnes via six designated customs stations. Previously, a 20% duty was imposed on exports of Kalanamak rice.

 

As per a notification from the Finance Ministry, the duty exemption for exporting up to 1,000 tonnes of Kalanamak rice will be effective starting Wednesday.

 

On Tuesday, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) permitted exports of up to 1,000 tonnes of Kalanamak rice through specified customs stations.

 

Kalanamak rice, a non-basmati variety, was previously prohibited from export. However, under the new regulations, exports of this rice variety are permitted through six designated customs stations: Varanasi Air Cargo; JNCH (Jawaharlal Nehru Customs House), Maharashtra; CH (Customs House) Kandla, Gujarat; LCS (Land Customs Station) Nepalgunj Road; LCS Sonauli; and LCS Barhni.
